COMMERCIAL FACILITIES
Cornell University Electrical Power Substation, Ithaca, NY - Design
of foundations for control building and electrical transmission
structures.
Brace Ontario Slab Investigation, Liverpool, NY - Investigation of
warehouse concrete slab on ground to support storage racks loaded
with structural steel.
Riverfront Hotel, Oswego, NY - Design of a four story, forty-three-
room luxury hotel. Foundation system consists of concrete beams
spanning between existing concrete walls that were once the sides of
a river channel. Building features include cmu bearing/shear walls,
prestressed concrete planks for floor and roof, and exterior steel
frame.
Three First National Plaza, Chicago, IL - Participated in the
structural design of a 1.5 million s.f., 57 story office building with a
tubular support structural system.
Pillsbury Center, Minneapolis, MN - Participated in the structural
design of a 22-story office building adjoining a 44-story office
building. Both buildings are reinforced concrete with shear walls.
Gibraltar Savings Center, Midland, TX - Design of a 190,000 s.f. 15
story reinforced and prestressed concrete office tower.
First Federal Savings and Loan, Little Rock, ARK - Design of
reinforced concrete framed structures in two phases. Phase I included
a 155,000 s.f. seven story terraced structure with a basement and two
underground parking levels. Phase II included a 250,000 s.f. office
tower and additional underground parking.
MUNICIPAL FACILITIES
J. T. Baker Storm water Retention Tank, Phillipsburg, NJ - Design
and production of contract documents for a one million gallon
rectangular concrete tank and pumping station.
Harris Hill Standpipe, Monroe County Water Authority - Analysis of
existing foundation to support additional loads due to increased tank
capacity (500,000 gallons), wind, and earthquake.
City of Watertown, NY - Design of improvements to the city water
treatment plant, included a 15,000 s.f. steel rigid frame
garage/warehouse, coagulation basin pumping station, and a dosing
station.
City of Farmington, MO - Design of an oxidation channel, clarifiers
and pump station for the wastewater treatment plant, utilizing rock
anchors to resist buoyant forces.
Highway Garage, Town of Geddes, NY - Design of a 12,000 s.f.
steel frame bldg.
Newcastle Drainage, Houston, TX - Design of single and double
box culverts for H20 live load and soil pressure.
Dairy Ashford Road, Houston, TX - Design of a reinforced concrete
culvert, retaining wall and elastic foundation.
Lift station, City of Kerrville, TX - Design of a timber shelter over a
generator at the lift station.

Alcan, Oswego, NY - Design of a 10,000 s.f. steel frame building
with basement level and tunnel connecting to an existing underground
tunnel. Spread footing foundation system. First floor level is a five-
inch composite deck slab.
Bristol-Myers, Syracuse, NY - Conversion of two existing
underground tank vaults, with six tanks in each, to above ground vaults
by removing existing backfill. Evaluation of structural integrity of
concrete vault walls, floor slab, tank saddles and tank uplift. Design of
new superstructures for vaults and tanker unloading station.
Verification of code requirements and development of report.
IBM, Endicott, NY - Design of a 7,000 s.f steel frame valve structure.
Nestle Corporation, Fulton, NY - Design of a 2-story/10,000 s.f.
steel frame nut roasting facility with precast wall panels, interior pile
foundation system with drilled piers and grade beams for exterior
foundation, loading dock and snow melt system.
Carrier Corporation, Syracuse, NY - Design of a 3,000 s.f.
component test facility. Mezzanine level within and independent of the
existing building required a foundation system and additional framing
for a monorail above the mezzanine level; steel frame and steel floor
deck were used for the mezzanine.
Anheuser-Busch, Baldwinsville, NY - Compost facility. Foundation
design for two pre-engineered metal buildings and a timber structure.
Main building is 36,000 s.f. Amendment storage building is 5,000 s.f.
Also, design of a pole barn structure for storage of compost.
Estimated construction cost of $3.5 million.
TRW, Inc. Danville, PA - Foundation design for a 2,000 s.f. pre-
engineered metal building.
Taylor Concrete Products, Watertown, NY - Investigation of a cmu
wall collapse for an insurance company.
General Motors, Syracuse, NY - Removal of delaminated existing
steel framing and design of a new cooling tower platform using
existing columns.
Chrysler Corporation Mound Road Engine Plant, Detroit, MI -
Foundation design for tank farm, tank pads and diked area
(75’ x 50’ x 3’); design of an overhead trestle for truck clearance and
100 ft. span connecting to an existing building; design of pump house
- a cmu building with slab on grade, metal roof deck, and one ton
monorail.
IBM, East Fishkill, NY - Field investigation/analysis of the existing
roof framing system (steel beams, columns, and open web joists) to
support suspended piping and snow loading. Design of remedial
reinforcing to avoid overstress. The plain concrete spread footing
foundation and soil pressures were also checked for the increased
loading.
IBM, Bellaire, TX - Design calculations for a 10 story /120,000 s.f.
reinforced concrete office building.
ARAMCO, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia - Design of a 10 story /230,000
s.f. reinforced concrete office building and computer facility.

Syracuse Developmental Center, Syracuse, NY - Structural
evaluation of deteriorated roof system and framing for the Facilities
Development Corporation.
Liverpool High School, Liverpool, NY - Investigation of diving
platform column support for corrosion of the base.

mezzanine floor, field house commons, classroom and cafeteria

reinforced concrete storage facility for lunar rock samples.
Bahrain Monetary Agency, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia - Design of a
50,000 s.f. 5-story structural steel framed office building.
U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Design of a
prestressed concrete physical education building and several
reinforced concrete pedestrian bridges at the King Abdulaziz Military
Academy.
BRIDGE/HIGHWAY DESIGN
West Fayette Street Bridge, Syracuse, NY - Replacement of
superstructure with weathering steel girders (60 ft. span) composite
with an eight inch microsilica concrete deck slab. Three inch wearing
surface of fiber reinforced/microsilica concrete. Original stone
abutment was also replaced with a reinforced concrete abutment.
Houston Ship Channel Bridge, Harris County, TX - Design of
superstructure and substructure for the south approach span. The
bridge’s three main spans (totaling 1,500 feet of cast-in-place, post-
tensioned concrete box girder) were constructed by the balanced
cantilever method. At the time of construction, it was the third longest
bridge of its type in the world.
I-10 Overpass, Houston, TX - Analysis and design of 7, 5, 3, and 2
lane prestressed concrete bridges.
Keegans Bayou Bridge, Dallas, TX - Analysis and design of a 6
lane, 40 foot span multi-beam prestressed concrete bridge.
Swantz Street Railroad Bridge, Dallas, TX - Review of design done
by another firm to determine adequacy of bridge and foundation H-
piles, sheet piling, wales, and anchorage.
Mason Road Widening, Overpass and Underpass, Houston, TX -
Structural design for a 25 foot widening on each side of Mason Road
over I-10, including prestressed box beams (composite section) with
40, 50, 60, and 65 foot spans. Also, bent, foundation, and abutment
design (on piles).
Port Industrial Blvd., Galveston, TX - Design for 3 trucks moving
transversely to the existing structure. Analysis of prestressed concrete
box beams (composite section) for ultimate moment capacity and
foundation design.
State Highway 342, Dallas, TX - Review of calculations for 3,000
linear feet of retaining wall with panels ranging from 5 to 19 feet in
height and drilled shaft design. Design review of the Dallas pan girder
bridge and column design for temperature effects, bending, and
average pile load.
